What the check means
A passing result does not mean ChatGPT or another answer engine will cite the page. It means the page clears three basic checks that make it easier to read, describe, and verify.
We follow redirects and robots rules, enforce page-size limits, and block private network addresses. If the page cannot be fetched safely, we stop.

Explanatory copy
Pages with fewer than 250 visible words are flagged. The threshold catches thin pages; it is not a reason to add filler.
Structured data
The check looks for JSON-LD in the fetched HTML. Structured data describes the page, but it does not prove the claims are true.
Editorial contact path
The page should give readers a clear way to ask a question, report an error, or verify who published it.

What this tool cannot tell you
It cannot predict whether an answer engine will cite the page. It also cannot judge every claim, the site's reputation, the fit for a particular query, or the strength of competing sources.
Use this check to catch basic page problems. Run a visibility scan when you need to see the actual answers, citations, competitors, and missed recommendations for buyer questions.

What is AI citation readiness?
AI citation readiness describes observable page signals that make content easier to understand, verify, and maintain. Prefometry checks explanatory copy, JSON-LD, and an explicit contact or editorial path. It does not claim these signals cause a citation.
Does a high readiness score mean an AI answer engine will cite my page?
No. The score only summarizes three deterministic checks on the fetched page. Citation decisions also depend on the query, source quality, competing evidence, model behavior, location, and time.
Can the checker read private pages or bypass robots instructions?
No. It only reads public HTTP or HTTPS pages through bounded safety controls. It does not access private network addresses or bypass redirects, page access controls, or robots policies.
What should I do after a failed citation readiness check?
Fix the failed observable signal: explain the topic with useful copy, add accurate structured data that matches the visible page, or publish a clear contact and editorial route. Then rerun the same URL and inspect the changed result.
